After reading the rationale, I'm still struggling to find how they all relate. The goal is to have one "obsession/genre" and create 6 icons from that obsession. For instance, you could pick horror movies from the 80s and create 6 icons based on something similar from each movie. I.e. a killer's face/mask or what they used in the movie to kill.

Also, you have to determine whether or not your icons will be easily identifiable based on a collective knowledge or is there a level of investigation the viewer has to achieve in order to understand them.

I see lots of identifiable elements but they all don't really relate. I think you've overcomplicated the concept.

Choose one genre and create 6 separate icons, not six combined into one icon.

Keep aesthetic and style in mind. Line weight, color, overall size relation from one to the other, etc.
